"Everybody is a GENIUS. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid"
I have always been interested in, and enjoyed helping people. I was drawn to counselling, in particular, person centred counselling, as it gives each person a place to be listened to and not feel judged, and in turn it helps people challenge thoughts, feelings and behaviour that may be causing distress. I aim to provide a space where you will be heard. Working in this way I have helped people manage issues including suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, anger, loss, gender, relationship problems, identity and living with autism.
Before I became a counsellor I worked in care and learning disability settings supporting adults with their physical and mental health. Whilst training as a counsellor I volunteered for Childline, Place2be a school based counselling service and at a Beavement centre working with adults and young people managing loss. Since qualifying as a counsellor in 2015 I have been working for a children's charity as a counsellor in schools and children's centres. Throughout my counselling work I have gained experience and knowledge in working in varying different ways and although I predominantly work in a person centred way I can bring in different approaches where I feel it could be helpful.
